Cottage & Movies
Not really worth doing a blow-by-blow trip report of the cottage – it was a nice relaxing time, and we spent our days relaxing, BBQing, at the park, building campfires, eating smores, on the beach etc. Some friends came up on some days as did some family members, and it was a lot of fun. Lot of beer drinking too!
A couple of pics:
Thursday sucked because it rained all day – so we spent the whole day inside watching movies. For those who don’t know – there are sites where you put in your rating on a movie, and it builds a profile on you and recommends more movies for you, as well as gives you their star rating prediction. The two sites I use are MovieLens and Criticker. Here’s their predictions and my ratings:
I have an absolute ton of work to do – back to it I go!
Hey I’m Back…
…yet you probably never knew I was away.
I was away to the cottage for the last week. I just didn’t bother broadcasting it on here – god knows what wackos are reading and waiting for me to leave my house so they can break in and sniff my dirty underwear.
Anyway I am back – and as always happens when I am away from the internet for awhile – I really don’t feel like being on here. So I’m off to bed for now, and I’ll try and get caught up on e-mails and forums tomorrow, and do some writing on here or something.
Chiao. Ciao even.
Michael Jackson
This is one of those celebrity deaths you just can’t believe. I remember as a kid he was like my favourite ever, and then the child molestation stuff with Jordan Chandler came out, and people would pick on ME because of it, as if by liking Michael Jackson I had caused it or something. I even got into a fight with someone over it once. Since that whole ordeal, my interest in him was never the same.
Still – he was just an amazing performer. There has been so much shit involved with his life – but at the end of the day he truly was the King of Pop, and had so many incredible songs and albums. Only in death will he really get the appreciation he deserves – he has been a joke for at least the last 10 years, but really you can’t help but feel sorry for the dude. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be thrown into the limelight at such an early age, and go through everything he did – no wonder he was a bit fucked up.
All the craziness involving Michael really made people see him in a different light – at the very least, with his death, hopefully everyone can forget that and go back to seeing him for what he should be remembered as – a mind-blowing fucking performer, one of the best ever. Of course that doesn’t sell papers, so I’m sure there’ll be a lot of shit coming out over the next year or so.
Also why is everyone a shock jock these days? I can’t go to a forum, a blog or a twitter account that isn’t making jokes about Jacksons death, in the “omg so shocking” fashion. It’s just weird seeing the world has come to – dude has died, leaving behind kids, a family, and millions of fans, and all everyone wants to do is make shocking jokes about it. I guess that’s just the way this generation is.
Also – sorry gotta do this for search engines – but if you’re wanting to buy some DVDs, check out Michael Jackson DVD Deals.
I’m not religious and I don’t know if there is an afterlife or anything like that – but hopefully at least in death, Jacko will find that peace he never seemed to get in this life.
The Fallout from Fallout 3 Begins
Well – beating Fallout 3 for the 2nd time and ultimately ending my relationship with the game led to a bit of sadness – but more important it led to productivity. I was up till 4am last night working on the casino affiliate version of my poker affiliate guide site. I’ve had the domain for at least 2 years, and I even drew up the sitemap for it about 2 months ago with all my plans for it, and half-wrote the content, but it wasn’t until last night that I actually got it all in motion. So yet another site to add to my portfolio – Casino Affiliate Bible. It’s a bit bare in articles just now but I’ll soon change that.
Also got the wheels in motion for upgrades to existing sites – big upgrades, that should hopefully result in a lot more moolah from them, and a bunch of other stuff going on. Busy as hell, as per usual.
Still watching Sopranos, and fucking loving it. Up to season 1 episode 8 now. Just an incredible show. All my friends who love it and have been begging me to watch it for years are now jealous as hell, because I get to experience it for the very first time.
I took Fallout 3 to EB Games today, and got $44 for it. I think I paid $50 or $60 for it. Then the Broken Steel DLC. Either way – just an incredible fucking deal. Other games I traded in and their prices. In brackets are what I paid for them originally:
Superman: $2.20 ($10)
King Kong: $3.30 ($10)
Halo: $0.50. Not a typo. ($22)
Perfect Dark: $5.50. ($4!)
Splinter Cell: $7.70 ($15)
GRAW: $1.10 (Free)
Crackdown: $7.70 ($10)
Fallout 3: $44 ($50/$60)
Blitz: $3.30 ($12.50)
Fight Night 3: $7.70 ($12.50)
Tomb Raider: $7.70 ($12.99)
I’ll add those to tivs.ca later. Other than Halo,I’m very happy with the prices I got back, and the value I got out of the games was well worth it. Think I am going to go through some more of my games and get rid of them – going to play Bioshock one more time for example, then will sell that.
Anyhoo – busy Saturday. My sons got hockey playoffs in the morning, then it’s the “Teddy Bears Picnic” in the afternoon. I’ll probably just spend Saturday chilling out back drinking beer, then do a bunch of NPP work Sunday.
