Busy Times
But isn’t that always the case?
I was away for most of last week as we went on a family vacation. We try and get away at least once a month. This trip was a real fun one, as we went up to Toronto and attended the African Lion Safari on the Thursday, then the zoo on the Friday. I usually like the zoo, but it just seemed so fucking lame after the safari, where we had lions chasing after our car(thanks to employees riling them up), baboons jumping all over the car and stealing our bumper stickers etc. Then you have the zoo where it’s an asleep lion on top of a rock. Big whoop.
Still was fun though, and a nice break and I’ll try and write something up for NPP.
I’m in the process of launching a site that I think is going to be huge. It’s an exact match keyword and I’ve put a TON of work into it – I’ll post more about it soon – I need about 30 more content articles written for it and a few design tweaks then it will be done. Very excited about it though.
I’m off to Budapest later this month of course for the affiliate conference and looking forward to that.
I also finished the first 5 seasons of Sopranos. Got to go through season 6, but think I will save it for my flight to Buda. Going to finish off Mad About You after realizing I still have like 1 and a half seasons of that to watch, as well as watch movies during the day. Today I watched End Game, Fast Track and Pursuit of Happyness. None were particularly special, although Fast Track was pretty funny and the Paul Rudd cameo is fantastic.
Been reading Joseph Finder lately. I’ve read Extraordinary Powers and Paranoia. Both awesome, and I’ve ordered the rest of his books.
Mason starts school again tomorrow. He’s not too excited about it but I am sure he will be fine once he is there. It’s amazing seeing the difference in the kids though. You can just tell that having a big brother, Ella has had a ton of advantages in regard to learning etc, and is so much more outgoing. Honestly it’s at the stage where every day I wake up, I can’t wait to see what crazy shit they do next etc. Like Masons started taking his toys, pouring them in a glass of water, and then freezing it. No idea why he started to do that – but he’s did it every day for a week now. Also I BBQ’d steak tonight for dinner, and Ella decided to pick a whole big fucking steak up and start chewing away on it. Also I bought her a toy monkey, but after the visit to the safari if she even SEES it she will start crying and run out of the room, which is both hilarious and retarded.
Anyhoo life is as always great. Everything is going well, loving life as per usual.
Temptations
Went up to Ottawa yesterday to get my passport renewed. About a week ago I realized that I would be in Budapest until the 15th, and my passport expired the 13th. OOPS. While up there I went to the Scottish/Irish Store on Robertson. Boy, was that a mistake.
I always go into those places that sell Scottish crap like chocolate and crisps and irn bru never planning to buy much. Then I get in and all bets are off – I’m like a kid in a candy store! Ended up getting about $150 worth of fucking chocolate, crisps and irn bru. Goddamn.
The worst thing is I just want to EAT IT ALL RIGHT NOW. I woke up today at 5am, and it’s now 7am and I’ve basically spent the last two hours craving a pack of scampi fries, sigh.
Janise is away this weekend with her friend camping, and the kids are going too. Gotta admit I am looking forward to it – complete quiet for 4 days straight will allow me to get lots of work done. I know, I’m boring as fuck.
Happy August 20th!
Movie & TV Watching Update
Haven’t really written here lately about TV shows or movies I am watching, so thought I would add a quick update.
During Work: Still going through Spin City. Since my x-5pm time schedule, I’ve been working a lot harder so haven’t really watched much of it. I’m about halfway through season 6, with 10 episodes left. After this I am not sure but will most likely start Just Shoot Me assuming I can get every episode of it. I’ve caught some episodes on syndication, and forgot how good that show actually was.
After Work: The SERIOUS time, where it is TIME FOR SERIOUS TV SHOWS. The Sopranos is almost done – I’m just turning on the Season 4 Finale while I eat my frosted flakes, so 2 seasons left. I gotta say that while I love the Sopranos – I have quite a few complaints too. Like the way something big will happen then it is not followed up on till 4 episodes later is ridiculous. Hell, sometimes they don’t even follow up on it at all.
Also things just happen out of nowhere – and not in the good way. A character will appear, be on the show for a bunch of episodes and them out of nowhere they just disappear. It’s the weirdest thing, and can be quite frustrating. It’s still a great show, but it’s not without its faults.
After The Sopranos – well we still have The Shield to go through – stuck on Season 4 there and have to start watching it soon. I’ll then hit up Dexter Season 3.
Movie wise I’ve been posting my reviews on NPP. I’ll just copy/paste those:
Lakeview Terrace – Really enjoyed the majority of this movie. Slow but well paced, and the build up was great….almost too great, as the third act ends up being a big disappointment. Also one of those movies that on the surface are pretty decent, but if you sit back and dissect you notice a lot of problems and holes in it. Still, Samuel L. was pretty fantastic in it. *** Movielens predicted ***, Criticker ***1/2.
Also how the hell do you get Patton Oswalt into a movie then have him utter like two fucking lines? I can’t even rate this flick it was so fucking bad.
Wanted: The first 20-30 minutes of this was pretty cool and got me pumped – the rest of the movie was a huge letdown. It was like they had all these cool ideas then blew them all in the first 1/3 of the movie – then had to come up with stuff for the next 2/3. Jolie was pretty good in it though, and I can watch the scene where she picks the hero up in the car with that sick sick move again and again. **
Hot Rod: Pretty damn funny movie, and the casting of Isla Fisher was as usual sheer genius. I love her so much. ***1/2
