Quality over Quantity When It Comes to Affiliate Programs
One thing I have been doing lately is overhauling one of my older and bigger websites in Casino Answers.
I launched that site back in 2010 and it has over 3,000 posts at the moment. So much of it is outdated and so we have been doing a complete overhaul of all the content on the site.
One thing I noticed that I had to laugh at is the number of affiliate programs I have worked with over the years there.
Back when I launched the website, things were so different compared to today.
These days for example, you have an online property called Gem.Bet. They are both an online sportsbook, and online casino. They have terrific offerings both the sports and casino side.
Back in the day that by itself was a bit of a rarity. You would have online sportsbooks that either focused purely on online sports, or would have a two bit online casino with the most basic of games. You never saw any online casino really branching into the online sports market either.
What really impresses me about companies like GemBet, and where things have really changed, is when it comes to casino games offerings.
Back in the day, you had just a few casino software providers such as Microgaming, Cryptologic, Real Time Gaming and Rival. There were no online casinos which carried games from multiple providers: each was licensed purely to that software provider.
So it meant search engine optimization wise, you were focusing on text like “Microgaming Casino” or “Cryptologic Slots”. Casino players came to learn and love the casino games based not on their topic but on the software provider – and would search for that sort of thing.
Now that’s completely changed. GemBet for example, work with over 60 different software providers for their casino games. The likes of Playtech, Genesis, Playson, and Microgaming are all there.
It’s nice as it stops any sort of monopolies as well. It allows smaller casino game providers to get listed with these online casinos, and gain exposure that they never would in the past.
Then they have a huge live dealer offering – another thing that is different from back in the day. Back then, online casinos would focus purely on the digital games. If you wanted to play a live dealer casino game you would have to play at an online casino that specializes in that.
It’s all different now. GemBet and others have an insane selection of live dealer games from variations on roulette and blackjack, to game-show-themed games and games such as Football Studio and Crazy Time.
Sports is another fun one. I used to profit a lot off articles talking about where to bet on particular sports. There were so many sports or sporting events that were only available at one online sportsbook. So it made sense to promote various sportsbooks and capitalize on that.
These days? Not a chance. The selection of sports offerings at these sportsbooks is incredible and they allow betting on practically everything that you can think of. Take a random Copa Sudamericana soccer game – there are over 330 different bets you can make on it!
Anyway, it’s just funny looking at this as although it means I can’t capitalize on a lot of that traffic anymore, it does make my life a lot easier. Online casinos come and go and it used to be a huge hassle having to track down every page that I promoted Intercasino on just to update it and state that they had closed. Then I’d have to find a suitable replacement.
Now with programs like this, it makes it so much easier. I’ve gone from promoting over 200 affiliate programs to promoting less than 30. Even then only 10 of them I actually actively promote.
Just something fun to look back at. What a difference brands like GemBet make.
